This Dataset includes data from an experimental research project led by Dr. A. Mateos and approved by the Hospital Universitario de Burgos Ethical Committee (Burgos, Spain) (BioE8-CEIC 1815). The aim of the project was to quantify the optimal locomotion speed (OLS), the minimum cost of transport (minCoT), and the energetic cost of walking in a sample of 74 urban children and adolescents of both sexes, aged 7-14 years. The entire data set acquired was incorporated into the EVOBREATH database (Mateos et al., 2016) and data were partially analysed in Mateos, Zorrilla-Revilla and Rodríguez (2022, At their own pace: Optimal walking speed in children and adolescents, American Journal of Biological Anhtropology 178, 593-604. DOI: 10.1002/AJPA.24562 ).-
