| Abstract: | The Acheulean technocomplex of the Iberian Peninsula, which is characterized by large cutting tools, has been recorded in the second half of the Middle Pleistocene. Verified chronologies show dates not earlier than MIS 12. Lithic assemblages based almost exclusively on chaînes opératoires de débitage are known since the Lower Pleistocene. These assemblages evolved independently from primitive series, hardly containing retouched tools, to more developed industries, which can be identified as Ancient Middle Palaeolithic since MIS 10. |
