La Cueva de Pozalagua (Bizkaia): ca 500 ka de historia geológica registrados gota a gota

Abstract

Laser-scanner and georadar techniques have been used to document the cartography of the Pozalagua Cave (Peñas de Ranero karstic system, Biscay). Results show the stratigraphy of the sedimentary fill, that along with some speleothem datations with U/Th techniques permits to: i) establish the stratigraphy of the cave with relation to climatic changes; ii) interpret the distinct sediment types and their relationship with the weathering of the host rock (dolomites) and its fracturing system; iii) relate the type of sediment and the hydrology with the distinct morphologies of the cave; iv) establish the common origin of the Pozalagua Cave with the adjacent cavity of La Torca del Carlista.
